POSSIBILITY AT THE RAMP CROSSINGS: My First Pair for 2011

Last Friday, while waiting for the boyfriend, I went to Crossings Quezon Avenue for a quick shoe-shopping. The Ramp Crossings has fab, fab items designed and made locally. I think this is one department store I went to where you can find a wide array of designer shoes aside from Landmark and SM. This caught my attention while trying a few pairs:
The brand name strongly appealed to me. It's like you're standing on the word and that anything can be done under your feet.

Here's what I've got as my first pair of shoes for the year (beware: photo spam below!):

And guess how much I got this beauty?

Yes! For only half the price. These wedges are even more comparative than the shoes that I previously checked out at Trinoma. As mentioned on my other post, I was looking for the quality and the price. It really doesn't hurt to add a few hundreds of peso for a pair of shoes that will last. But for this pair, I find the quality better than that and way, way more affordable! How lucky can you be to find a good quality shoes at a good price? There's even a couple more of pairs that I wanted to get for myself but they just don't have the size :( I'm and eight! Big feet, eh?

I'm trying to buy at least three pairs. And I'm up hunting for my second. Hmmm, I wonder where I can find the next pair? :)

Perhaps from “PensandLens JC Shoes Contest?”

This is my fashion. This is my statement.

WHY DO I ALWAYS WEAR A DRESS?

Last November, me and Denise of Simone's Closet had a one-day bazaar in Makati. We bought a bulk of dresses from a supplier in Mandaluyong to add up with the stocks we have. And since it was my first time in about eight years to do a bazaar, I don't quite have the basics anymore of what bazaar-goers would like to see in a trade such as ours.

Beige dress - Mandaluyong supplier
Black bolero -
Mint

I bought more than a dozen of dresses, most of them my type, in addition to the items consigned to me by my good friend. But during the bazaar (and for the whole time I was trying to sell out all my items), I realized that not too many girls I know of would want a dress or a sleeveless blouse as a new addition in their closet. Most of them would say, "Oh, I don't have nice legs." Others would say, "My arms are just too big like my legs to wear sleeveless."

During my younger years, I don't think I ever had such a thought in my mind why I should not wear those. Maybe because as I've said, my Nanay and my Tatay would always dress me up and most of the time, in those outfits. Even during my college years (we didn't have school uniform), my batchmates and my girlfriends could attest that I would surely have a skirt, a sleeveless or a dress on me almost everyday.

It's because I found them to be more comfortable especially during the days when the sun is so high. And on rainy days, dresses and skirts are just so convenient to brave knee-high flood especially in the city. I wouldn't have to worry to hang them up for long hours on wet season as they can dry up in hours with the help of my reliable electric fan or when I put them at the back of refrigerator.

And up until now,I still love to wear dresses, sleeveless (not too much lately as I became so full-figured), and skirts. In fact, I only have a few pair of pants or jeans or sleeved tops. Sometimes, I want to ditch my old tops but I'm just too sentimental to do so. I just hope I could encourage the girls I know, who doesn't want to wear the outfit, to indulge in dresses and skirts. Perhaps, I could do something like a party with all the girls in fabulous dresses? Hehehe. Just thinking...

THE JUMPER AND THE CHILD

I think my love for shoes and my fondness of wearing dress comes from childhood when my Nanay and Tatay would dress me up with what I call now mini-adult clothes (because I buy clothes for my niece with a design for an adult like me :)). I remember I had a very sheer, crumpled, garterized, spaghetti-strapped top which was so tight it will mark on your skin as soon as you take it off of you. My father would buy me shoes on every occasion or event at school. He would personally choose a pair for me and fit them in.

My very first time to attend a birthday party was at McDonald’s Greenbelt 1. My father took the time to squeeze me in to his field job and dropped by McDonald’s to buy me a pair of shoes at Plaza Fair in Makati Cinema Square. He knows I outgrow my shoes too fast and he would always check if they still fit on me.

My mother, on the other hand, would dress me up with dainty clothes and fix my hair with a bow or a headband. Sometimes, she would pay someone to braid my hair. I think she’s the first person who ever taught me how to look at the mirror.

I realized I am also fond of different type of jumper clothes – jumpsuits, jumpshorts, jumpskirt, etc. It’s something that’s always present in my cabinet since I was young as my parents would often buy me that. And up until now, I still keep about 5 types of jumper clothes.

Gray Jumpskirt - Thrifted

There was a lost picture of me that was so vivid, I can still remember – I was a three-year-old girl wearing a jumper, I was so round, my hair was cut like one of those men in The Beatles band and I was wearing a white jumper with socks and doll shoes. My father was holding me on my waist because he said I was too heavy, I found it hard to stand up. Hahaha, I was cringing my nose giving the camera an attitude with a grin. I was such a child. I think I still am. That’s why I still keep jumpers and I continue to have them even if my bestfriend think I am too old to have one. I would forever love the feeling of wearing a jumper. It’s so casual, so young, and so carefree like a child.

This is my fashion. This is my statement.

MY GLADIATOR IS BACK IN ACTION

Yes, my sandals is back in action. And with a vengeance. (Nyerrr!) Went out for client calls today and I swear I've walked a mile with these sandals. Well, I did because I find it better to walk than to sit in a public transport and wait for the traffic to move. Not to mention, a way to sneak out for a good exercise, since I don't have time to do so. :)

Since my meetings were at TriNoma, I managed to drop by a few stores while I was waiting for my clients. Earlier, Denise sent me a link of Carmina Villaroel's shoes, so I decided to drop by Ensembles to check out the shoes. The designs are sexy and stylish. Though, I didn't find the materials to be worth of its price. Plus, the shoes are too small for me even if I get a size 9. I mean, I have wide feet and the cut of the shoes are meant for slim ones, I think just like Carmina Villaroel's.

I wont let you see how wide my feet are because that would be gross! Hahaha. Perhaps you'll have an idea on this post or better yet, check out my two-year-old niece's feet and magnify them ten times! hahaha. We are a family of having wide feet and my niece got that characteristic too :)

Back to the shoes-hunting, I dropped by Dumond and I found a beige pump on 20% off - worth Php3,300 net! Comparing the shoes from the other shop, I thought it's going to be a good buy. The soles are soft and the material is made of leather. Not to mention it's stylish too. Hmmm... I have to contemplate! :)

White sheer long sleeves - Banana Republic
White inner tank top -
G2000
Checkered mini skirt -
Tomato
Gladiator sandals - gifted

Well, so much for my shoe-hunting for today. I'd like to check some other shops perhaps on weekends. I'd also like to check something online. Denise mentioned another link on Multiply. If I'm not mistaken, it's Dainty Shop. Hmm, let me check...

WHOEVER SAID "ALL FASHION BLOGGERS ARE SELFISH" IS DEAD

Yes, dead like six feet under the ground. Dead like a cold ice. Dead like a stone. Dead because s/he will be hated hundred times back by those whom posts s/he'd written a hate note ANONYMOUSLY! The creature has the nerve! Why can't s/he show her/himself?

I am not sure if it's a typical thing for bloggers of any category or interest to get haters. I, at my earliest stage in blogosphere, got an anonymous hater's comment - which I deleted eventually. Yes, I deleted because it is my post and I don't want nasty comment get in the way of the good vibes my article brings.

Yesterday, while I was engrossed in blog hopping, I read Denise Katipunera's post about how she's sorry for her hater. I followed through her other posts and I found another anonymous comment on one of her posts (just a few days apart) saying all the nasty things about her. Last month, Kookie Buhain made a warning about a prank K. Buhain who's also leaving shit comments on her follower's posts.

Now, what caught my attention and what was retained to my memory sharply enough was the comment on Denise Katipunera's post saying:

"So what? All fashion bloggers are selfish. One day all your gone (sic). Bilog ang mundo."

I said "What the hell?" How can this creature, who doesn't know how to write properly, can say ALL FASHION BLOGGERS ARE SELFISH?

First of all, this is our blog. It's one's blog and it's treated as a personal property. It's like a home. You can come in if you like to see what's it's like living in one's world. But you can't smear one's home. Out of respect, utang na loob! A blog, for me, is a one's personal space to voice out loud what one feels about her/himself. It's a place where one belongs whenever the rest of the world doesn't care for him/her. And I don't think anyone has the right to make "lapastangan" one's blog (I can't find the right english word).

Second, I'd like to refute on the statement "ALL FASHION BLOGGERS ARE SELFISH." Whatever category or subject one is blogging, be it fashion, food, travel or anything under the sun, we, bloggers, are part of a common knowledge and that's the net, you fool! We contribute in our own little ways to the bloodline of technology and we make this virtual world breathe to make the world a better place. In fact, we contribute to the economy of any (thriving) business there is.

Third, if someone wants to rant about something, do it on your own space. Haller?! It's free to make an account. All you have to do is sign up!

Fourth, we uplift one another. We make each other feel good when one is down. Some people would find refuge in the net whenever they feel alone. At the end of the day, these people will realize, they are not really alone because they can actually find reliable friends even if it's just from the blogosphere.

Fifth, we contribute to fashion. Believe it or not, yes we do. Maybe a number of fashion bloggers like me, are considered "dreamy" and that we may not have the top of the line brands in our closets but we help one another how to bring out the best in ourselves even with thrift finds. Because for us, that's one important thing: To be able to learn to love ourselves so that we can spread love to one another.

Sixth, if these hate creatures so hate some of us (fashion) bloggers, then why should they even waste time reading along? So sick.

I can count up to a thousand, but the bottomline is, hey, if you've got nothing good to write about, just sit on your hands, will you? I mean, bloggers welcome comments, suggestions, criticisms. We even write if we feel bad about something. We are not a single minded hokey-pokey who just praise each other just to get followers or traffic. There are days we just can't find an inspiration to write so we mess up. Maybe we also let out some bad air through our writings but we do it around our own space. So I really hope these creatures would mind their own too.

Thing is, I don't think one would write just for her/himself. Any writer (or artist) would want to share to the world. That's what writing, in this case, blogging is all about - to share ourselves as opposed to what is previously claimed by these creatures. Otherwise it's not anymore writing or blogging. Blogosphere gives every writer a chance to either share or polish her/his craft when the mainstream media is stiff, cluttered and competitive.

So for those hate creatures, for starters, why don't you find what makes you happy and be love creatures for a change, eh? Agree?

Enough for haters, I'll segue to my outfit of the day:

Sheer white bolero with rosettes - Bargain find
Sheer green polka electric pleated maxi dress - Shoppes@Victoria, Timog QC
White platform shoes - Popstyle
Chandelier earrings - my sisters'

SIMONE HAS CAME BACK SO SWEETLY

Model: Bestie of The Capricious Club

I am writing this post in support to my former office buddy (and one of my good friends), Denise and her online shop, Simone's Closet. Denise is now officially starting her home-based copywriting job for an offshore client. She's also having her first collection for the year and it's called Sweet Comeback. This is her way to level up her online shop as she found a photographer who will help her taking pictures of her merchandise. Although I was not on the photoshoot (since it was my pamangkin's birthday), I promised to be with her on her next photoshoot.

Her Sweet Comeback collection features maxi skirts, vintage tops and a lot of colorful items on the rack. Here are my personal favorites:

Sussy Black and Brown Floral Maxi Dress

Polka Garterized Skirt

Bella Black Long-Sleeved Lace Top

Have I said I'm a skirt and dress person? Yes, I think I have. So for you girls, you may check her online shop, Simone's Closet. You might also find fab accessories and other items on sale!

Now, I'm gonna do some hop to find a pair of shoes. Any suggestions (aside from Gold Dot)?

WHO DOESN'T LOVE WEEKENDS?

For the past two years, I've been working on Saturdays. I missed going to Baywalk on a Saturday morning running with my jogging buddy, Kim. I missed going home to Cavite after that jog and I miss watching my favorite AXN Series on weekends. I miss a lot of things.

Gray hooded sleeveless top - G2000
Denim pants -
Crissa
Pink jelly shoes - Rusty Lopez

For most days of the week, I'd wear dresses or sport a get up that's powerful enough to make my clients remember me. And since I am fond of skirts and dresses, I don't really have much pants or jeans to work on. But weekends, like everybody else, is a dress-down day for me.

Sometimes, I'd only wear a pair shorts and a loose shirt with rubber sandals on. At home, I'm happy to have stripped off shirt. The older, the better. I find comfort in wearing homey clothes instead of working clothes on a Saturday.

But since I work on Saturdays which is weekends, I have to slip into something that's not too dress-down when I go for a jog or for a trip to Cavite. This is dress-down post but I've already put too much effort on that. Hahaha. Well, only on Saturdays. I guess I never got used to it.

FAREWELL PARTY FOR DENISE AT CENTERSTAGE TIMOG

My colleague, Denise has chosen to follow an opportunity in writing away from the office and that means: at home. A full-time job that gives her enough freedom to write on her own and at the same time, to look after her li'l daughter, Marise.

Denise on her animal print get up (Growl!)

It's quite sad that I won't get to see her everyday from tomorrow but I'm more than happy for her as she is also doing great with the new job. Besides, I might not also be hanging around the office for so long as I have mentioned how overwhelming opportunites have knocked at my door. I'm letting one of them in as I write this article.

Denise with the hubby and another colleague :)

Tonight, we went to Centerstage in Timog. We've heard its owned by Karylle and so, we decided to check it out. We also considered Music 21 and another KTV among others but during telephone inquiry, Centerstage has given us quite a good deal for ten people. The place is nice and neat. People are friendly and accommodating. We've availed of the happy hour for the beers. Actually, we hoarded them for the boys :) I first thought of taking Cerveza Negra but then, changed my mind to Tanduay Ice. It was a good choice. Just light and easy.

It's a night of singing. (I mean, me, singing as the rest of my officemates don't want to). Later on, as the alcohol kicks in, each one has shared their own piece of song.

Sabi nila, ayaw nila kumanta:

Since Denise is with her beau (and a taxi), they had to leave at ten. Just in time for my bed. I went together with them until Espana then took a ride home. Tanduay Ice is kicking in and as I type this article, my eyes are just dropping, I can't help them from closing... zzzzzzzzz
